Page four of a very silly story which is obviously getting sillier and more illegal by the moment.
Andy is Too Cool, and he’ll be for sale in Spain next week.
I will not be attending the big San Diego Comicon this year—without a new book to be hyping it’s way too expensive—but I was curious to find out that there will be a panel discussion featuring my book Too Cool to be Forgotten:
10:30-12:00 Comics Arts Conference Session #9: Sequential Artistry— Keegan Lannon (Southern Illinois University) uses Craig Thompson’s Blankets as a case study to analyze how the relationship between the frame and the gutter, and individual frames themselves, can suggest duration and create the passage of time. Fabio Luiz Carneiro Mourilhe Silva (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) applies Gaston Bachelard’s concept of rupture to comics, showing the evolution of comics along with their evaluation in terms of the instant and the articulation of time. Tof Eklund (Full Sail University) turns the work of Thierry Groensteen, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, and Donald Ault onto Alex Robinson’s Too Cool to be Forgotten, revealing a narrative that is by turns eerie, enlightening, and wrenching, and, most of all, illustrative of the function and potential of time in comics. Martin Schuewer (German Society for Comics Research) explores how the graphic construction of space contributes to the narrative in comics, looking particularly at perspective drawing and at how spatial fragments are linked to form a coherent narrative in the work of such experimental artists as Windsor McCay and in more conventionally narrative comics. This definitely sounds like the kind of discussion in which someone would ask me a question and I’d look at them with a blank stare, but if you’re into hardcore comics theory this could be right up your alley. Don’t tell me if they say anything bad about the book!
Day 3 of White Stripes cover week!
I liked this one since it features two characters I rarely get requests for (it’s always an ego boost when people ask for a deeper-cut creation). Normally I charge by the figure but I just charged a little extra for all the shadowy ninjas. For added fun I made the shadows some of my other characters who will not be a part of the series otherwise. How many can you name?

Early promo image for Too Cool to be Forgotten. Attentive readers will have figured out that I love doing these types of group shots, having posted ones featuring the creatures from the Mos Eisley Cantina and the cast of Box Office Poison. .
Speaking of Too Cool, tomorrow evening I’ll be taking part in the Midtown Comics Comic Book Club: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=152297231503195. Be there and watch me squirm as people discuss my book before my very eyes!
