Watermarks: what’s the deal?
I have been toying with the idea of adding in some kind of “watermark” to things I post. I haven’t been ripped off by anyone or anything but with all the posting and reposting and copying that goes on the on internet I figured it might be a good idea.
Are there any sort of guidelines for this? Is the above example okay or is it too obnoxious?
Here we have the complete Wonder Woman trilogy. The first one was done for an auction benefiting victims of domestic violence (http://www.womenofwonderday.com/) (and it only now notice that I included a woman with a black eye in it—erk!) while the other two were commissioned by people who liked the first one. Compare and contrast.
Here’s a picture I drew of a drunk Hulk, inspired by the popular twitter guy. Also featured: Trippin’ Professor X and Stoned Thor.
Actually, has there ever been a story about alcohol’s effect on the jade giant? That could be an interesting twist they haven’t explored. Perhaps he gets all maudlin. “You are Hulk’s only friend. Hulk love you, puny man.”
Wonder Woman complete! I also did a scan of the drawing (this was taken with a camera) but for some reason colored pencils lose some subtlety on the scanner (or at least when I do it!). Tomorrow I’ll post a follow-up, comparing all the versions of this drawing. In the meantime, I’m off to the post office.
Bring on the Bad Guys!
Two observations:
1) I tried to include some ladies in the drawing but Marvel’s bench is surprisingly shallow when it comes to female villains.
2) This is the first time I’ve noticed how many villains wear green (often combined with purple) and how few heroes do. I can’t think of any classic Marvel heroes who wear green other than The Hulk (who started off grey). I can swear I remember reading something where one-time publisher Larry Lieber had a rule that “green covers don’t sell” and it’s not hard to imagine he was parroting something said by his brother Stan Lee.
I changed the Mole Man’s costume to brown since I was sick of green and brown seems more “mole-ly.”
